goodbye 2006 hello 2007!

another year has passed with the blink of an eye.
Only 365days and yet it seems as though 10years have passed because so much has happened. 2006 has indeed been a year of transition and surprises for me. Learning to cope with failures, farewells as friends leave the country, adjusting to university life, making new friends, hurt by some and grown closer to the least expected people. And yes, I have grown. Good in some ways terrible in others. Thank you to everyone who has played a part in this chapter of my life. To those who were there to support me through the tough periods and to those who shared in my joys. To those who were there to listen and encourage me, for loving me despite my flaws and insecurities. CHEERS to you!

Friends. so many of you. I don't know where to start thanking. ac girls, mg girls, new smu friends. though many of you are overseas (more than half of you!) I'm glad that the bond is still so very close:) this holiday has been way too short to allow me to spend time with everyone. but i really love you guys.

i would really love to do up a thank you list right now ..but its time for me to sleep. going to go to church for dawn pray at 6am. I want to start the year right, and that is to start it with God. :)

oh! my family had dinner at chijmes then we headed over to mount faber for the countdown party. quite a rip off for the amount we paid but whatever. its the company that matters:) and very sadly, i think this is the last new years we're gonna have as a family.kor kor is not coming back next dec. =(

the BOOK!

argh i'm falling a little sick. my throat is feeling rather uncomfortable. zzz. supposed to have business meeting today but it got cancelled (silent yippee haha kidding) i think i've been going out too much and not resting enough. too many late nights. last night during dinner with the mg girls i fell asleep a few times cos i was soo sleepy.
AND it didn't rain today. i chose to wear my new long sleeve top and it didnt rain. haizzz. haha but nvm no rain is good :) so anyways today was spent with mandy:) a slow moving day i must say. she dragged (okay la not drag ha ha) me down to some uob place to check out some mng/fcuk sale. but it sucked like anything.haha. everything was just longsleeve tops and that was just what they had in the entire shop. and they were the SAME ones all over. plusss!! the mng tag and the mng price tag didnt tally .. so we're like dont tell me this is 2nd hand. so in the end we didnt get anything. down to town for nicee coffeebeancoffeee. haha i like mandy cos she likes coffeebean over starbucks (yay). oH and we met kAV!!!! i called her and pretended to be some stalker damn funny. mandy was like thats kav.. i was like ARE YOU SURE. then we kept looking and looking THEN we heard her voice (pretty soft cos she was so far away) but it was a give-away. it could have only beeen kav=) haha our hot/cool malaysia roomiee :) roomies reunite. the gardener came by for a short while and it was a time of jacking haha (as usual).
twas a lovely afternoon of catch up :) loveyoumandy even though we didnt kick off with the most excellent start as friends. HAHA. team uncoolxXx always.

anyways i shall blog about how i spent my christmas and all the lovely christmas partiesi went for SOON. kinda lazy right now. and my throat is annoying me.

From our first few conversations during lectures back in AC .. one of the first things i said to you was 'its in the heart' (and till now you still remember! ) .. to math tuition .. being part of sskc .. as well as the newly formed 3 muskeeteeeeeeers (heehee) .. thanks for always coming by to pay me visits when school gets so damn boring and yucky .. and for always sending me home .. for pretending to be my "cousin" haha (doing our small eyes big small look - a like pictures) even though i know you can't stand my cheesy words.. i just want to say baobei, don't leave me .. or else i'll flood the world with my tears (ha ha ha) this time i'll be at changi airport to make sure you don't leave me (promise i won't ditch you at 5am (remember?) ) love you babes. you'll always be , my ONE AND ONLY.

so well myself cel its and christine met up @ christine's place despite the pouring rain for a good homecooked dinner and well we prepared DIP!

things i really want to do (because of the weather)

1. get icecream (preferrably b&js') and then drive down to where i grew up and play at the park. cos they have swings over there! and well this would be perfect after the rain (cos it would be slightly chilly) and at night . but i can't do this unless i can find a driver. hmms .
2. read @ the tea party one of these afternoons and drink my favourite tiramisu mate
3. one evening (when there is NO rain) go down to marina south and fly a kite
4. just go for a spin one of these nights
   
5. night swimming (when its less chilly) and star gaze at the same time
6. ride on the trishaw (!!)
7. learn to bake something. pudding or sthmg

so what is christmas to you?

is it ..

• getting many presents from close family and friends (big ones from the family, hopefully haha)
• attending christmas parties (house ones or for the more happening ones real serious big parties haha)
• just being with that special someone (cuddling and sharing hot cocoa? sounds like a scene taken off a movie)
• going for church musicals
• welcoming back of family/friends who are abroad
• christmas shopping/preparing christmas dinners
• writing christmas cards
  
• listening to christmas songs, checking out christmas lightings or as weijie puts getting the "christmas feeling" (ha ha quoting ah thanks!)
  

the list goes on ..

i think as christmas approaches.. people generally tend to feel a lot? like you know tend to be more EMO. every one's new favourite 3 letter word. EMO. (haha) i think its because of the whole hype about christmas. everyone wants to be with a special someone .. surrounded by your closest family/friends .. but then everyone seems to have their own plans but you can't really decide how you want to celebrate your christmas. you don't know who you should call to go out. should you just spend it with your family? call ur sec school or jc friends or uni friends? or should you just be with your best friend? or your significant other half? for some reason christmas makes you wish you had special someone. (okay for me at least .. as much as i hate to admit it) ha ha. but wells .. upon reflection .. is that what christmas is really all about?

I think thats more like X'mas rather than Christmas.

So many of us, myself included have forgotten the true meaning of christmas. that is to celebrate the birth of our good Lord Jesus. In fact, christmas should be every single day! A celebration that God came to save us from this sinful world.

So really, whats the point of fretting over being broke about christmasshopping .. or who to spend christmas with .. or feeling all "loved" by someone special! Christmas is about Christ. Its about celebrating God. And because we have such great joy in our hearts .. we can't help but share this great love/joy !

so well as christmas approaches .. let us slow down and really ponder about what Christmas is to us!

i love how we behave like we're married. squabbling, scolding, laughing at, commanding, making fun, with/of each other :) love the way we can talk about our past memories like the time we tried to go to sentosa and got drenched and ended walking around orchard road sharing a bright pink towel (ha ha) .. the times we tried to bake brownies/cookies for teachers day and end up making a mess of the moulds ( for e.g. the glasses i made for laoshi ended looking like a bra!) and putting the flour and chocolate on each other.. the times your parents went overseas and you would camp in my house for more than a week! how you would steal my pillow or worse still lie right on top of me as though I AM the pillow ( ha ha) .. or the times when i would go ALL the way to the east (!!) just to eat ur mom's cooking (pig's stomach/ bak kuteh) which she specially cooks just for ME :) .. all the times we laugh about secret jokes .. all the late night phone conversations .. the lessons back in mg where you would make fun of the way i can't run down stairs but you'll help me queue up to get food cos i'm so scared i'll fall down running down! haha .. back in AC where we would have our 1-1 recesses every thursday .. the times when we ended up watching trashy shity scary jap/korean movies and then complain non-stop after! .. ayes this list goes on and on and on. AND of cos when we celebrated in good results.. or comfort each other through the tough times. thanks for holding my hand, encouraging me, praying for me and always believing in me and trusting me.

so much has happened this past 5 years of our bestfrenship. and i'm so glad you were the one right beside me all this while. okay this ain't some proposal we don't have to get married (ha ha) but yah its just myway of saying THANK YOU bestfriend or more affectionately pardiepardx. i'm sorry i lost our engagement ring we should buy one again okay? i hope you had a blast today! and that you were actually SURPRISED! (ha ha) and that you love your shoes:) i only buy shoes for special people ;)

anyways the TEAM did well today!

team 1 : myself and weijie. met up in town to get bels shoes! (and uhh got myself a new pair too oops) then got the birthday girl to pick us up and bring her to her house. haha.

so while bel was happily showering .. weijie helped me to hook on all the ornaments. left the shoes on the floor outside her room. when she came out of the shower i presented her with my collage of pictures of us and her card and said : sorry dear! kinda broke this year.. your birthday present will come soon! haha. so yah only when she was gonna leave her room and opened the door did she see the shoes on the floor and the ornaments! (MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!)

team 2: the girls. dinner at gya kaku some jap restaurant at chijmes. was really fun catching up with the babes and cooking foooooood! haha. stef kept fighting with me.
haha thats the stups dentist and i fighting all night during dinner ! ha ha
oh the surprise here wasnt much.just sarah and bev weren't supposed to make it for dinner but they did ! so hip hip huray!! ha ha

team 3: i called them the stb! surprise team bel! comprised of her smu frens. the original plan was to surprise bel at the big christmas tree outside raffles city. however due to unforseen circumstances .. like weiren ordering water for everyone at the last min while having desserts at menotti so we had to wait for the water! haha. so then it shifted to the fountain inside raffles city. (my excuse was nicer background to take picture!) THENN audrey had to scare me and say no they were hiding behind two shops at some uob thing iwa slike HUHH!!? next thing i knew i hear some voice calling out to christina i turn myhead to the left and theres audrey's head popping out from behind some advertisement hahhhahahah and then she and jan removed the advert thingy and shouted SURPRISE!! ahhaha the candles were almost gone!
yay! MISSION IMPOSSIBLE THREE ACCOMPLISHED haha
